Local conversion rate revolves around tracking three key actions in local search results: Phone Calls, Website Visits, and Driving Directions. By combining these actions and dividing the total by the number of impressions (searches showing the result), businesses can gauge their ability to capture engagement from their "Google business card." Monitoring local conversion rate as a primary Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for local success offers a comprehensive view of how effectively an online presence translates into real-world actions or conversions.
When a searcher clicks on one of the three primary buttons in a local search or map page result (click to website, get driving directions, or place a call), it is recorded as an Action and made available to the LocalClarity platform via our direct API connection to Google.

The analysis will look at total search exposure on the y-axis versus local conversion rate on the x-axis. This chart identifies which locations need attention to broaden their reach and which ones require assistance to improve engagement.

Google sunset reporting for Discovery Searches, Brand Searches, and Direct Searches in February 2023. Their decision was met with disappointment throughout the industry, as would the removal of any key performance metric. While Google didn’t provide an official reason, we do see a bright side. The expansion of keyword data via API provides an entirely new set of insights for performance.
