This article reviews what are Business Groups in Google and how to transfer your listings to them for better organization
Organizing your Google listings is critical, especially for agencies and enterprise brands managing a large digital footprint. Without Business Groups (formerly known as Location Groups), all of your Google Business Profiles default into a massive, unorganized "ungrouped" section.
While keeping all listings under one login is better than jumping between dozens of separate accounts, an ungrouped dashboard quickly becomes a chaotic mess. Finding a specific profile is tedious, and worse, you risk a costly mistake, like publishing a local promotional post or critical update to the wrong business location.
To protect your brand and streamline your workflow, we highly recommend setting up Business Groups in your Google Business and migrating your listings.
To create a new business group:
- Sign in to Business Profile Manager.
- At the top left, click the "Businesses" tab.
- Click Create group.
- Enter the name of your group.
- Click Create.
- Start adding locations.
How to transfer existing locations to a business group:
- Sign in to Business Profile Manager.
- At the top left, click the "Businesses" tab. (If you're part of multiple organizations, make sure to choose the right organization first.)
- Use the drop-down menu to choose your business group.
- Check the box next to each location you want to transfer.
- From the Actions drop-down menu, select Transfer Location.
- Select a business group to transfer the location to.
- Click Transfer.
Now that you are better organized, this can drastically improve the integration process with LocalClarity. By following the instructions provided when connecting your GBP profiles you can select the appropriate business groups without having to worrry about bringing in the wrong listings.
