Google is expanding the dietary labels restaurants can apply in their Business Profiles. Gluten-free, dairy-free, halal and kosher are now available. These new labels join the vegetarian and vegan options that were already in place.
The tags work at the dish level, not the restaurant level. To use them, open your Business Profile, choose “Edit menu,” pick an individual item, and tick the dietary badges that apply. This lets you label each dish accurately rather than describing the whole restaurant with one broad tag.
The aim is to make tagged dishes easier to find in Google Search and Maps when someone searches for a specific diet, such as “gluten-free dinner near me.” Tagged items are meant to stand out on the profile itself, so diners can see whether a place suits them without digging through the menu.
Please note that these are labels and are not tied to any verification. Always double check with resteraunts that these labels are accurate.
