Google has begun sending a new email notification to Google Business Profile (GBP) owners titled "Does this look right to you?" The email alerts profile managers to take action when a Google Maps user suggests an edit or update to their listing—such as a change to the business name, hours, or details.
It explicitly highlights the suggested modification and prompts the owner to verify or reject it within four days by selecting either "Yes, it's correct" or "No, it's incorrect." Historically, user-suggested edits on GBP could sometimes apply automatically if ignored or go unnoticed until an owner actively logged into their dashboard.
This updated email format demonstrates a proactive push by Google to rely directly on business owners to maintain data accuracy while also maintaining the ability for users to publicly suggest necessary edits. Now, however, one does not come at the cost of the other.
By placing a clear call-to-action directly in the owner's inbox with a tight four-day feedback window, Google gives businesses a streamlined way to defend their brand identity and public information against accidental user errors or malicious edits by competitors while preserving the public's ability to provide suggestions.
